Windows 10 and 11 Installation

A list of steps to take before you begin using your Brother Wireless Printer with Windows 10 and 11.

Before you start the installation process, make sure you have the following:

  • Service Set Identifier (SSID)
  • Wireless network password or network key
  • IP address
  • Security mode - for example, WPA2

Do not connect the printer to your computer until you are told to do so in the instructions.

Download Printer Drivers

Learn how to download and prepare the installation of drivers for Brother QL-720NW, QL-710W, and QL-810W printers on a Windows operating system.

  • You will need administrative rights to download and install drivers on any machine this device connects to.
Download this printer's drivers, so it can work with PDS for Windows.
  1. In your PC's search bar, enter This PC, and click the app to open it.
  2. Double click OS (C:).
  3. Now that you're in your hard drive, create a temporary directory to save your drivers. For example, right-click, and create a new folder called Brother Install.
  4. Click one of the following links to take you to the driver page of the printer you use:
  5. From Select OS Family, select Windows.
  6. From Select OS Version, select your correct version, and click Search.
    Note: If you aren't sure of your operating version, click How to identify your Operating System (OS).
  7. Select Printer Driver.
  8. Select Agree to EULA and click Download.
  9. Select Save File.

Unzip and Install Your Brother Wireless Printer

Unzip the Brother Install file, and install your printer.

  1. In your PC's search bar, enter C: and click the folder location.
  2. Locate Brother Install, and unzip the file.
  3. Once you have unzipped the file, select the correct setup file to install.
    • For the Brother QL-720NW, double click C:\Brother Install\qd720ww651avt64us\D_setup.
    • For the Brother QL-710N, double click C:\Brother Install\qd710ww651avt64us\D_setup.
    • For the Brother QL-810W, double click C:\Brother Install\qd810ww651avt64us\D_setup.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Wireless Network Connection, then click Next.
  6. Click Next to view the Destination folder.
  7. Select Brother Peer to Peer Printer, then click Next.
  8. Select Change Firewall port settings to enable network connection and continue with the installation, then click Next.
  9. Select Yes, I have a USB cable to use for installation, then click Next.
  10. Plug in the USB cable.
  11. Make sure you have the SSID and network or key password. Select Checked and confirmed, then click Next.
  12. Make sure the power is on for the printer. The installation window displays.
  13. Once the wireless network is detected, check to make sure that the SSIS is correct. Select Yes, then click Next.
  14. Disconnect the cable from the computer, then click Next.
  15. Do one of the following:
    • If the printer doesn't display, click Wireless Setup and start over.
    • If the Brother QL-720NW, QL-710W, or Brother QL-810W printer displays, click Next, then click Finish to restart the computer.

Select Printer and Printer Settings

Once your printer is installed, select the correct printer settings.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Devices and Printers and select the correct printer.
    CAUTION: Do not select Brother QL-720NW-USB, QL-710W-USB, or QL-810W-USB.
  3. Right-click and select Printing Preferences.
  4. On the Basic tab, click the Paper Size drop-down, and select 2.4".
  5. Click OK.
  6. Right-click, and select Printing Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab, then click Printing Defaults.
  8. On the Basic tab, click the Paper Size drop-down, and select 2.4".
  9. Click Apply > OK.
  10. On the General tab, click Print Test Page.
  11. After the test page prints, click OK.

Set up your Printer in PDS

After you select the correct printer settings, set up your printer in PDS.

  1. Open your PDS program.
  2. Go to the Reports section.
  3. Double-click one of the mailing label reports.
  4. Click Next.
  5. For the printer, select Brother Printer.
  6. For the orientation, select Landscape.
  7. Select a paper size that matches the labels you're using.
  8. Click Next.
  9. For the label style, click Edit Style.
  10. Select both Continuous Form and Dedicated Label Maker.
  11. Click Save/OK, and save the style.
  12. Click Next > Preview.
