Reassign or Copy a Student

You can reassign an individual to another family, create a new family record using their information, or copy the individual's information to a new record.

Reassigning a member means you move their entire record from one family to another. Examples of when you would reassign a student include:
  • A child goes to live with grandparents, and you need to transfer the child's record to the grandparents' existing family record.
  • A young adult graduates, and you want to remove them from their parents' record and start a new family record of their own.
  • A person gets married and moves in with their new spouse, and you need to "merge" the records into one family record.
Copying an individual means you copy all the data from their record into a new student record in another family. The existing record remains in tact in the "old" family. One example of when you would copy a student is:
  • A child's parents divorce and split into two family records, and you want the child to display under both families.
CAUTION: When you copy a record, this is a one-time copy of the original record. It is not a link to it or a shared record. After copying, if you update any data on one record, it is not updated on the copied record.
