Unbalanced Miscellaneous Revenue Account and Unapplied Payments Journal
This troubleshooting guide addresses the issue of an unbalanced Miscellaneous Revenue account in General Ledger and the Unapplied Payments Report.
The Miscellaneous Revenue account in General Ledger is not balanced with the Unapplied Payments Report.
Products affected: Accounts Receivable
Versions affected: Any
Here are some reasons why the account and report balances differ:
If on a cash basis, payment credits do not affect general ledger but will appear on the Accounts Receivable report.
If the payment is from a prior year, it will not be reflected in the account due to revenue accounts closing out at the end of the year.
Transactions from other modules have affected the account. (i.e: a refund check was written out of the account and it should have affected a different revenue account.)
