Add the Adjusting Journal Entries

You can create an adjusting journal entry to adjust accounts or to correct a mistake. For example, if you had the wrong distribution on a transaction, you can create an adjusting journal entry to redistribute the amounts correctly.

  1. On the Transactions tab, click Journal Entries > Adjusting Journal Entries.
  2. At the top, click Add JE. By default, the reference number is automatically filled in.
  3. Enter the month. This is set as the current fiscal month by default, but you can change it to any month that hasn't been closed.
  4. Enter optional notes about this adjusting journal entry.
  5. To upload additional documents that support the adjusting journal entry, click Add Documents.
  6. In the Distribution grid, enter how you want to distribute this adjusting journal entry. For adjusting journal entries, you must use detail accounts.
    Note:

You must enter at least one debit and one credit amount in the grid. The total amount of debits must equal the total amount of credits.

The date for each line defaults to the first day of the month, but you can set it to any day in the month.

  7. At the top, click Save.
