ACS creates .Net and .Lck files to prevent two users from editing the same record at the same time. ACS deletes these files when you exit the program properly, through the Exit button or the X at the top of the window.

Sometimes these files are not properly deleted. This could occur if:

  • Your workstation does not respond.

  • You restart your computer.

  • Your computer restarts after a power surge.

  • You shut down your computer without exiting ACS.

If this occurs, manually delete the files.

  1. Click Delete .Net and .Lck Files.
  2. Click Search, then Delete.
  3. When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Click Clear User Directories.
  6. When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
  7. Select the desired user name, then click Remove All Listed Files.
  8. Click Exit.

If that doesn't work, perform a People Suite backup, then run the ClearINI.exe utility. This utility clears the files in the X:\ACSNET\INIFILES folder for a specific ACS user (X represents the network drive).

  1. On the Windows desktop, click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the screen.
    The Start screen displays.
  2. Click the arrow button.
    The Apps view displays.
  3. Click Utility Manager.
  4. Click Support Programs, then enter the daily password.
  5. In the Miscellaneous utility list, double-click CLEARINI.exe.
  6. In the drop-down list, select the ACS user, then click Clear INI Files.
  7. Click OK, then Close.

If the error still occurs, the user's report has become corrupt. Delete the user and add him or her back.

  1. In the People or Financial Suites, under Advanced Tools, click the Admin Utilities tab.
  2. In the drop-down list, select Add/Edit Users and click Go.
  3. Select the user you want to delete, then click Delete.
  4. When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
  5. Click OK.
  6. To add the user back, in Add/Edit Users, click Add.
  7. In the User Name field, enter the same user name as before.
  8. In the Password and Confirm Password fields, enter the same password as before. If you are not sure of the password, enter "123456" as the password, then have the user change the password after they log in.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Optional: Enter the Address and Phone/E-mail information, then click Next.
  11. Select the user's permissions, then click Finish.
