Resolving Access Violation During W-2 Extract File Creation
This troubleshooting guide provides a solution for an access violation error that occurs during the creation of a W-2 extract file in any version of the Payroll product. The error is typically caused by an employee having a blank or invalid address. The solution involves updating the employee's address in the system.
When creating the W-2 extract file, an access violation displays.

This occurs when an employee has a blank or invalid address. To resolve this, update the employee's address.
- Under Manage Records, click on the Records tab.
- In the drop-down list, select Add/Edit Employees and click Go.
- Select the employee whose address is blank or invalid, then click Edit.
- On the Addresses tab, edit or enter the address.
- When finished, click OK.
