Error 8708 occurs when printing Payroll Checks due to improper deletion of .net and .lck files. This error can be resolved by manually deleting these files and clearing user directories.

After responding to the Did Checks Print Correctly? prompt when printing Payroll Checks, this error displays:

DBISam engine error 8708, record has been changed and table is not in insert mode.

To fix the error, remove the .net and .lck files. These files, created by ACS to prevent simultaneous record editing, are usually deleted upon proper program exit. However, they may persist if the workstation becomes unresponsive, the computer is restarted, or ACS is not properly exited. In such cases, manual file deletion is necessary.

To resolve this, delete the .net and .lck files, then clear user directories.

  1. Click Delete .Net and .Lck Files.
  2. Click Search, then Delete.
  3. When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
  4. Click Close.
