Unlocking Year-End Tables
This guide provides solutions for the error "Unable to unlock year end General Ledger tables" encountered during year-end procedures in General Ledger. The solutions include resetting the check and posting locks, and manually deleting .Net and .Lck files if the locks resetting does not work.
When performing year-end procedures in General Ledger, this error displays:
Unable to unlock year end General Ledger tables.

First, reset the check and posting locks.
- Under Advanced Tools, click the Admin Utilities tab.
- In the drop-down list, select Maintenance Utilities and click Go.
- Click Reset Check Lock.
- When the confirmation message displays, click Yes, then OK.
- Under Advanced Tools, click the Admin Utilities tab.
- In the drop-down list, select Maintenance Utilities and click Go.
- Select Reset Posting Lock.
- When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
- Click OK, then Close.
If resetting the locks does not work, try deleting the .net and .lck files.
To fix the error, remove the .net and .lck files. These files, created by ACS to prevent simultaneous record editing, are usually deleted upon proper program exit. However, they may persist if the workstation becomes unresponsive, the computer is restarted, or ACS is not properly exited. In such cases, manual file deletion is necessary.
- Click Delete .Net and .Lck Files.
- Click Search, then Delete.
- When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
- Click Close.
