Sharing Violation When Printing Reports
This troubleshooting guide addresses the issue of a "Sharing violation" error that occurs when trying to print any report in General Ledger. The guide provides solutions such as deleting .lck and .net files, checking network permissions for certain folders, and ensuring the correct printer setup in Financial Suite.
When trying to print any report in General Ledger, this error displays:
Sharing violation.
-
Products Affected: General Ledger
-
Versions Affected: Multiple Versions
To fix the error, remove the .net and .lck files. These files, created by ACS to prevent simultaneous record editing, are usually deleted upon proper program exit. However, they may persist if the workstation becomes unresponsive, the computer is restarted, or ACS is not properly exited. In such cases, manual file deletion is necessary.
- Click Delete .Net and .Lck Files.
- Click Search, then Delete.
- When the confirmation message displays, click Yes.
- Click Close.
Also, you may want to check your network permissions for the WINACS, ACSNET, and ACS Technologies folders. For ACS to work properly, all network users need full access to the X:\ACSNET and C:\WINACS directories . X represents your network drive letter.
In addition, confirm that the correct printer is set up in Financial Suite and that all default options are selected.
- In ACS Financial Suite, click Printer Setup.
- In the drop-down list, select the correct printer, then click OK.
- On the main People or Financial Suite menus, click Printer Setup.
- Select the default options, then click OK.
