Invalid Fund Principal Account in Closed Year Posting

This troubleshooting guide addresses the error "Invalid fund principal account in G/L setup" that occurs when trying to post transactions to a closed year in any version of General Ledger. The error is caused by the absence of a selected Fund Principal account in General Ledger Setup. The solution involves adding the fund principal account through the Advanced Tools settings.

When trying to post transactions to a closed year, this error displays:

Invalid fund principal account in G/L setup.

  • Products Affected: General Ledger

  • Versions Affected: Any

No Fund Principal account is selected in General Ledger Setup. To resolve the error, add the fund principal account.

  1. Under Advanced Tools, select the Settings tab.
  2. In the drop-down list, select General Ledger, then click Go.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Enter the default Fund Principal Account and click OK.
