Third Party Equipment

All third-party equipment documentation is located in Heretto. This includes printers, scanners, etc. This documentation is targeted at the average home/business user who has some experience installing printers, drivers, etc.

We no longer stock hardware. Instead most hardware is shipped directly from the manufacturer or Amazon to customers. However, we maintain content that helps customers integrate hardware with our software.

  • Equipment content is considered global content, meaning it should written so that it can be reused across product lines, where applicable.
  • If Mac and PC steps are different, include both.
  • Topics should include steps and screenshots that guarantee success and link the user to the appropriate webpage, so they can find the driver that works for them.
  • Do not include irrelevant details. Less is more.
  • When developing new documentation for third-party hardware, check to see how other products have already been documented and follow the basic outline.
CAUTION: All requests for changes to hardware documentation should accompany a JIRA ticket. Equipment documentation affects multiple products, so it needs to be reviewed before changes are published. (Minor corrections such as spelling or grammatical errors are excluded from this.)
