Track MinistrySafe Training in Pathways

With Pathways, you can track your volunteers' MinistrySafe training progress.

To set up a pathway, you must have the Manage Pathways permission.
After you implement MinistrySafe, you can use Pathways to track your staff members or volunteers' training progress and dates of completion in Realm. You can see how many individuals are currently enrolled in training, have completed training, and who may be overdue on steps.

You can also see your past participants' training completion time for a pathway or for individual steps or courses. Knowing who has completed training and passed background checks means you can go ahead and assign your volunteers to work with children in your organization.

  1. In the top-left corner, click your site name then Realm. Then click Pathways > Current.
  2. Click Add Pathway, then click Create a pathway.
  3. Fill in as much of the form as you can. For example, you may want to name your pathway VBS Volunteer Training or Nursery Worker Onboarding. Items marked with an asterisk are required before you can move on. Point to the information icon for more information about an item.
  4. When you're ready, click Add a Step.
  5. Add your first step. This could be completing a background check, a MinistrySafe course, or any internal training your church offers. Steps can be ordered or unordered. You could also add a link to the course in the Step instructions. Complete as much of the form as possible.
  6. When you're ready, select a save action.
    • Save & Add People to Pathway—Saves what you've done and opens a new pop-up where you can add volunteers who must complete courses.
    • Save—Saves your work and exits the pathway setup.
    • Save & Add Another Step—Saves this step and opens an empty New Step form. If you want to add additional MinistrySafe courses to your pathway, select this option.
  7. If you selected the first option, enter the first few letters of a volunteer's name and select them in the drop-down list. Add as many people as you'd like. They will be added automatically to step 1 and to any unordered steps in your pathway.
  8. Click Done.
As volunteers or staff members complete courses, you can mark these steps complete. You can even email pathway participants if you need to remind them to complete courses. To learn about these features, see the Pathways Staff Guide
