Leaders: Chat
Start a quick, real-time conversation with people in your church.
What is Chat?
Sometimes you just need to send a quick message to someone in your church — to say you're on your way to an event, or that plans have changed. Chat creates a conversation where replies arrive in real time. Chats carry over between Connect App on the web and the Connect mobile app, so you can pick up a discussion on the go.
Types of Chat
- Group or team chat — a conversation with everyone in a group or serving team, or with specific people you choose from it. Only a leader can start one. Group chat has to be enabled for the group first.
- Private chat — a conversation you start with one person or several. If you start it with just one person, you can't add more people later.
Notifications
When you create a chat, any recipient using the mobile app receives an app notification. Anyone who doesn't respond also receives an email with all message activity for the first five minutes.
Once you reply to a chat, you keep receiving push notifications for new activity in it. You can mute those for a set time or indefinitely. Leaving a private chat removes its history for you and stops all further notifications.
Archiving
When a chat is no longer useful, you can archive it, and it moves to the Archived section. Type something new in an archived chat and it returns to Recent.
