This troubleshooting guide addresses the issue of long processing times for searches in any version of the product.
Searches take a long time to process.
Products affected: People
Versions affected: Any
This may happen after a mass clean up or deletion of data.
For example, if you have a 200 MB awgrindv table and you delete half of the records in the table, the table is still 200 MB. When you optimize the table, it decreases the table size to 100 MB. The program runs faster because a smaller table takes less time to process.
Optimizing DBISam tables may help. However, it is not necessary to optimize all tables after repairing DBIsam tables.
Warning: You should always
perform a People Backup or a Financial Backup before optimizing tables.
- Click Table Maintenance.
- Log in using your ACS user name and password.
- Click either People or Financials , depending on the suite you are working in.
- Select the table to be optimized, then click Optimize Table.
- When the confirmation message displays, click OK.
