The Newsfeed is where your group or team sees your posts, photos, events, and anything you pin to the top.
What is the Newsfeed?
The Newsfeed is content created by you and the people in your groups and serving teams. Think of it like a bulletin board where people pin things up for everyone to see. It keeps you in touch from your desktop or your mobile device. If you're the parent or guardian of a child in a group that has enabled parent/guardian oversight, you also see content from your child's groups on your Newsfeed.
There are several types of content you can post:
- Post: Make a group-wide announcement or ask for feedback. People can reply and create a conversation.
- Photo: Share one photo or a gallery so everyone can see how the get-together went.
- Event: Host something like a special lunch or a community project. Members can RSVP and sign up to bring items from a list you create.
Interacting With the Newsfeed
When someone shares something you like, show your support by clicking or tapping the
heart at the bottom of the post.
To add a comment, click or tap and enter it. Everyone in the group or team can read and respond to your
comments, as long as comments are enabled.
Blank Icons
Some mobile devices use emoji specific to that device that can't be seen on the web
or on other devices. A blank icon () in a post means someone used one of those device-specific emoji.
Notification Settings
On the Notification Settings page, you control how often you're notified when information is posted. You can set this separately for each group you're part of — all notifications from your Bible study group, none from another. You can also receive highlights from all of your church groups once a day through a daily digest email.
Members are notified about new content based on their own Newsfeed notification settings. To check who is receiving notifications and by what method, look at the Participants tab.
Group Visibility
Members receive notifications based on their group's visibility setting:
- Public — All group members are notified of a Newsfeed post.
- Hidden — All group members are notified of a Newsfeed post.
- Users with permissions — Only administrators and users with permissions are notified.
