Federal and State Tax Updates

We've updated Federal Tax tables to version 24.01.01.

Many states had tax table changes as well. We've updated state tax tables for Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Vermont.

Updated Year-End Forms

We've updated Form 1096, as some Form Type boxes changed in 2023.

We also tested all year-end forms, including Forms 1099 NEC, 1099 MISC, and W-2, to ensure compliance.

Alabama Overtime Exempted from State Taxes

Effective January 1, 2024, hourly paid employees in Alabama will not pay any state income tax on overtime pay.

To meet the new law's administrative reporting requirements, in Define Lists, add a pay type for overtime pay and clear the State Taxable field. Use this pay type to record overtime pay.

To populate Form W-2 Box 14 with the code EX OT, add a cost center to each employee for the overtime wages.
