E-File Tax Forms for 2023 and Beyond
The IRS has issued a new regulation for the 2023 filing year (filed in 2024).
If you submit more than ten tax forms (1099s, 1095s, or W-2s), you must file them electronically. Previously, the IRS required you to e-file if you have 250 forms for any one form.
Beginning with the 2023 filing, the threshold has been reduced to ten forms. This includes a combination of the forms. For example, if you only have five 1099s and five W-2s to file, then you must now e-file.
ACS Financial Suite provides two options- filing electronically with our trusted partner Nelco, or uploading the 1099 and W-2 extracts to the Internal Revenue Service's Information Returns Intake System (IRIS).
E-File with Nelco
With the help of our trusted partner Nelco, our built-in tax e-file service lets you file your forms in one place.
You can file Federal, state, recipient mail, ACA, and 941 forms. You can also retrieve past forms online and review up-to-date statuses at any time.
E-File with IRIS
You can electronically file forms for free with the Internal Revenue Service's Information Returns Intake System (IRIS).
To do this, you must set up an account with IRIS at least 45 days before filing. As a part of account setup, you will apply for a transmission control code that lets you electronically file your forms.
In ACS Financial Suite, you can export CSV and form data for Form 1099 and Form W-2 and save them to your computer. With your account and transmission code, you can upload them directly to IRIS.
