Draw a Shape
In the Shapes area, you can draw basic shapes such as a polygon, rectangle, circle, or freehand shape.
Once you draw a shape, it displays on your map. You can draw multiple shapes, and you can drag and drop your shapes to move them around your map.
- On the Navigation Bar, click Shapes.
- On the Control Center, under Drawing Settings, select Basic.
- Select the shape you want to draw. The default option is a polygon.
- On the map, place your cursor where you want to start drawing.
- Click the mouse, then drag your cursor to form a line.
- To draw the next two sides of your shape, drag your cursor, then click. This forms a triangle.
- To refine your shape's boundaries, continue dragging your cursor, then clicking to release it. When you finish drawing your shape, double-click your mouse.
You can also save your shape to use later or for others within your organization.
Draw a Radius
In the Shapes area, you can draw a radius from an address, current location, or a selected point on the map.
When drawing your radius, you can enter a numerical distance and select units such as miles or kilometers.
- On the Navigation Bar, click Shapes.
- On the Control Center, under Drawing Settings, select Radius.
- In the Radius From drop-down list, select Address, Current Location, or A Point I Select on the Map.
- In the Radius field, enter the numerical value of your radius. For example, if you want to measure a 2.5 mile radius from your church's address, enter 2.5.
- In the Radius Units drop-down list, select your radius units, such as miles or kilometers.
- If your radius is based on an address, enter it in the Address field. If your radius is based on a selected point, click on the map to set the center marker.
- Click Draw.
Draw a Travel Polygon
Travel polygons map out the travel distance in minutes from a set point on your map.
Travel polygons are a great way to see demographics within a certain drive time of your church, so you can effectively minister to those communities.
- On the Navigation Bar, click Shapes.
- In the Control Center, expand Travel Polygons.
- Select Driving, Walking, or Bicycling.
- Under Starting Location, enter your starting point. This can be your church's address, your current location, or a set point on the map.
- Click Next.
- Under Time Contours, enter the time in minutes you want to represent within your polygon. You can define up to four time contours, each with a different color and for up to 60 minutes. For example, you could define a 10, 15, 20, and 30 minute drive time from your church.
- Click Next.
- Under Done, your travel polygon's travel time estimates display. Select your polygon's Resolution.
- Click Draw.
You can zoom in or out on the map, change the map type, view layers, plot people, or build predefined or demographics reports based on your travel polygon.
